Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for Helpers Hive.

Last updated: July 31, 2026

This policy applies to the Helpers Hive MVP and may be updated as the service changes.

Terms of Service

1. About Helpers Hive

Helpers Hive is a local marketplace that helps people post small jobs and connect with people who may want to help. Helpers Hive is not an employer, contractor, agency, staffing company, or payment guarantor. Helpers are independent users of the marketplace, not employees, contractors, or agents of Helpers Hive. Helpers Hive does not perform jobs for users.

2. Eligibility and young users

Users under 18 may use Helpers Hive only with parent or guardian permission. Users must only post or apply for lawful, safe, age-appropriate tasks. Users are responsible for following New Zealand employment, safety, school-hour, tax, and local laws. Young workers may have legal restrictions around work hours, hazardous work, machinery, alcohol or gambling venues, heavy lifting, and other restricted work.

3. User accounts

Users are responsible for the information they provide in their account, profile, jobs, applications, messages, and reports. Account and profile details should be accurate and appropriate.

4. Prohibited activities

Helpers Hive must not be used for emergencies. Jobs, applications, messages, profiles, reports, and other content must not be illegal, unsafe, dangerous, sexual, regulated, misleading, scam-related, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, or threatening. Helpers Hive may restrict, remove, or report unsafe or inappropriate jobs and content.

5. Jobs, payments, and user responsibility

Job payments are currently arranged privately between users. Helpers Hive may also offer optional site-handled online payments for some jobs. For online job payments, the job owner pays after job completion, the helper receives the posted job amount, and Helpers Hive adds a platform fee on top of that amount. Helpers Hive does not guarantee payment, job completion, user behaviour, tax treatment, or dispute outcomes. Users are responsible for safety checks, legality, payments, taxes, and disputes.

6. Fulfilment policy

Job fulfilment is arranged and performed directly between the job owner and the helper. Users must agree the job scope, timing, location, safety expectations, and when the job is complete. Helpers Hive may offer online payment after completion, but Helpers Hive does not supervise or guarantee the work. Helper payouts for site-handled payments are processed by Stripe and financial institutions, so payout timing may vary.

7. Online job payment fees

If online job payment is available and used, the job owner pays the posted job amount plus a Helpers Hive platform fee. Free users pay the greater of 2% or $5.00. Premium Basic and Premium Plus users pay the greater of 1.5% or $3.50. The helper receives the posted job amount before any Stripe, bank, currency conversion, tax, or financial account deductions that may apply to the helper's payout account.

8. Premium subscriptions

Premium Basic and Premium Plus are monthly subscriptions. Premium features may include higher usage limits, urgent posting, boosted applications, and email notifications for applications, selected jobs, chat messages, and new jobs in a user's suburb when enabled. Premium users can manage available notification preferences from their account. Premium may also reduce Helpers Hive platform fees for optional online job payments. Subscription payments are handled by Stripe or our payment provider, and Helpers Hive does not store full card details. Subscriptions may renew monthly until cancelled. Users can manage or cancel through the subscription management flow. Cancellation may apply at the end of the billing period depending on Stripe or account settings.

Premium does not bypass safety rules, reports, moderation, Row Level Security, profile completion, terms acceptance, urgent acknowledgement, or review rules. Boosted applications improve visibility only. A boosted application does not mean the applicant is verified, safer, guaranteed, better, or more suitable.

For refund or subscription support requests, email HelpersHiveHelp@gmail.com.

9. Refunds, disputes, and chargebacks

Premium subscription refund requests can be emailed to HelpersHiveHelp@gmail.com. Online job payment refund or dispute requests may be reviewed manually by Helpers Hive or site admins. Refunds are not guaranteed. Stripe, bank, card network, or payment provider fees may not always be refundable.

Chargebacks and payment disputes may be handled through Stripe, card networks, banks, or other payment providers, and may affect user accounts. Nothing in these terms limits any mandatory rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under New Zealand law.

10. Reports, moderation, and messages

Users may submit reports for safety, behaviour, or content concerns. Reports may be reviewed by Helpers Hive. Messages and other content may be stored and reviewed if reported or if needed for safety, support, moderation, or legal reasons.

11. Profile previews

After a helper is selected, a limited profile preview may show safe details to selected-job participants, such as profile photo, first name, calculated age, short bio, helper skills, and review summary. Private contact details such as phone, email, full birth date, and full private profile details are not intended to be shown in limited previews.

12. Ratings and reviews

Users may leave ratings and reviews after completed jobs. Ratings and reviews must be honest and based on real interactions. Fake, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or misleading reviews are not allowed. Helpers Hive may use ratings and reviews for trust and safety, and may moderate or remove ratings and reviews.

13. Platform availability and warranty disclaimer

Helpers Hive is an MVP and may change, pause, or have technical issues while it is being improved. Helpers Hive is provided as is and as available. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Helpers Hive does not promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation, successful matching, accurate user identity, job quality, payment success, or payout timing. Nothing in these terms excludes guarantees or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Helpers Hive is not liable for user conduct, job quality, injury, property damage, non-payment or off-platform payment, indirect loss, lost income, or disputes between users. Where Helpers Hive has liability that can legally be limited, that liability is limited to the amount paid to Helpers Hive for the relevant service or transaction.

Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

Helpers Hive may collect information needed to run the marketplace, including name, email, phone number, birth date, calculated age, location, profile photo, messages, job data, application data, report data, ratings and reviews, payment and subscription records, payout setup status, notification preferences, moderation records, and device or session information.

2. How we use information

This information may be used to provide accounts, profiles, job posting, applications, selected-job chat, reporting, moderation, safety review, support, subscriptions, optional online job payments, helper payout setup, reviews, notifications, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute handling, and record keeping.

3. Third-party services

Helpers Hive uses third-party services to operate the app. These may include Supabase for backend data, Vercel for hosting, Stripe or another payment provider for Premium subscriptions, online job payments, payment disputes, chargebacks, and helper payout onboarding, Resend or another email provider for service emails and notifications, and analytics providers if added later. Payment and payout information may be shared with Stripe or another payment provider so they can process payments, verify payout accounts, meet legal obligations, and manage disputes. Helpers may need to complete Stripe payout onboarding before receiving site-handled online job payments. Helpers Hive does not store full card details.

4. Data storage and international processing

Data may be processed or stored outside New Zealand depending on the services used, including through providers such as Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, Resend, and similar operational services. Helpers Hive will aim to use reasonable safeguards for user data as the product grows.

5. Messages, reports, and moderation

Messages, reports, and related content may be stored and reviewed by Helpers Hive or trusted admins if reported or if needed for safety, support, moderation, payment disputes, fraud prevention, or legal reasons. This may include reviewing limited job, application, profile preview, message, review, report, payment, or account context needed to handle the issue.

6. Notifications

Helpers Hive may send service emails, welcome emails, safety or operational emails, admin report emails to site admins or the site owner, and Premium notification emails for selected marketplace activity. Some notification types can be managed in account settings or by using unsubscribe links. Some safety, account, billing, or operational emails may still be sent when needed to run or protect the service.

7. Access, correction, and deletion

Users can request access, correction, or deletion of their information by emailing HelpersHiveHelp@gmail.com. Some information may need to be kept for safety, moderation, legal, payment, tax, fraud prevention, dispute, chargeback, accounting, or record-keeping reasons. Helpers Hive may also keep records needed to protect users, enforce rules, respond to reports, or comply with payment provider and legal requirements.
